I am a 30-plus-year veteran in education. My passion for education has been heavily influenced by STEM pursuits that have empowered my students to explore the vast possibilities of today’s technologies while contemplating tomorrow’s discoveries. My daughter’s exposure to robotics prompted me to incorporate engineering lessons in my 6th-grade classroom through the use of VEX robotics kits. I soon realized that these lessons created a chain reaction among students to harness the power of learning collectively. Robotics lessons promote critical thinking, cooperation amongst groups, and teamwork.

After teaching the VEX robots in the classroom, I decided to start offering summer camps for kids. It started small but is growing to reach more students each summer.

After seeing the success of robot creations in the classroom, I decided to design a fun learning environment that promotes STEM skill-building with friendly competitions. This is how robotics camps organically started. The first camp generated interest for a second one and the popularity soon demanded multiple camps throughout summer breaks.

My goal is to expand into other districts and help students who would not have the opportunity for this STEM exposure. Simply stated, the goal is to help instill a desire to learn and explore without access and cost barriers. The power of robotics camps inspires students to think as engineers, build with purpose, and cooperate as a group to achieve academic success. These are the elements needed in today’s workforce to create better communities.

I know kids yearn to learn through robotics exposure!

Robotics Discovery inspires innovation, builds problem-solving skills, and promotes lifelong learning habits.  We engage kids through hands-on, cooperative experiences that promote higher-level thinking and responsible citizenship through engaging in STEM activities with robotic kits.
